The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum of Maryland is an educational center in Baltimore County established in honor of Negro Leagues baseball players and their contri-butions to the cultural history of the United States.
Our purpose is exclusively charitable, educational and nonprofit. Our mission is to collect, preserve and display collectibles, photos, books, artifacts and memo-rabilia that tell the story of Blacks in baseball from the early 1800's to the present.
What We Do
The museum works with
advocates interested in
promoting educational
research, exhibitions and
the dissemination of historical
information about the Negro
leagues.
All museum programs and
projects are designed to
foster among young people
as well as adults a greater
understanding of the plight
of African-Americans as
they pursued their rightful
place in the realm of
sports.
We conduct activities designed
to stimulate interest in Black history while learning about the
early circumstances of Black
baseball players.
We encourage interest in the
game and expose children and
adults to the basic principles of
good sportsmanship.
Our annual NLB Youth Summer
Camp provides opportunities
for kids 8 to 12 years of age
to learn about the history of the
Negro Leagues and get a good
grounding into what it means to
engage in a sports activities.
